The S&P/ASX 200 closed 35.1 points higher, up 0.45%.

The Aukus triumvirate—Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States—confirmed in a joint statement on Tuesday that it was thinking about collaborating with Japan on the Aukus strategy's second phase.
The pursuit of advanced military capability was declared by US Defence Secretary Lloyd J. Austin, UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps, and Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles as a means of bolstering regional stability and security.
