A 16-year-old Perth boy was shot dead by police after he stabbed another man with a kitchen knife. According to the police, the teen became "radicalised" online.
Just after 10 p.m. on Saturday, according to WA Police, an emergency call was placed by a teenager threatening to carry out violent acts.
Shortly after, there were reports of a man being stabbed in the parking lot of a Bunnings store in Willetton, which is in the southern suburbs of Perth. This prompted another triple-0 call.
According to Police Commissioner Col Blanch, upon their arrival, they discovered a 16-year-old carrying a sizable kitchen knife.
Commissioner Blanch reported that the boy was shot after he threw the knife at the officers.
He passed away in the hospital shortly after.
Meanwhile , Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said , My thoughts are with those who have been affected by the incident in the Perth suburb of Willetton overnight.
"I have spoken with WA Premier Roger Cook this morning, and I thank the WA Police for acting swiftly to contain the incident.
I have also received a briefing on the situation by the ASIO Director-General and the AFP Commissioner, and I'm advised there is no ongoing threat to the community on the information available.
We are a peace-loving nation and there is no place for violent extremism in Australia,” he added.

The Imam of Adelaide's largest mosque, the Mahmood Mosque, Imam Kamran Tahir, who previously served in Perth, was deeply saddened to learn about the recent knife attack there. He has condemned the attack in the strongest terms and expressed concern about youth radicalisation.
In a starement , Imam Kamran Tahir said,“We are once again saddened to learn of another knife attack in which innocent civilians were harmed, this time in Perth. It should be made very clear that there is no justification for such acts in Islam. Education programs on true Islamic teachings are required to engage the youth. Stressing that there is no place for violence in Islam.”
According to Commissioner Blanch, the teenager was a part of a programme that assisted people who were at risk of radicalisation and was known to the police.
He clarified that although "they may not be committing any crimes," the program's focus was on helping people who expressed opinions that the community found troubling.
