The S&P/ASX 200 closed 23.2 points lower, down -0.30%.\
The S&P/ASX 200 (XJO) finished 23.2 points lower at 7,726.8, 0.16% from its session low and 0.30% from its high. In the broader-based S&P/ASX 300 (XKO), advancers lagged decliners by 114 to 158.
Only 2 of the major ASX sectors managed to close in the black today, Consumer Discretionary (XDJ) (+0.73%) and Health Care (XHJ) (+0.21%).
GUD Holdings (ASX: GUD) (+12.2%) led the Consumer Discretionary sector after it enjoyed several glowing reviews from the major brokers following its investor day yesterday, plus an FY24 guidance update. [Read more]

Former Military Attorney David McBride Jailed for Leaking Documents. David McBride, a former military attorney, received a five-year, eight-month prison sentence for providing journalists with access to secret military documents.

🇮🇳 India. In Mumbai, in western India, a massive billboard collapsed onto onlookers amid torrential rain and thunderstorms, killing at least 14 and injuring 74, according to reports.
🇷🇺 Russia. Due to "outside interference," freight train cars in the southern Russian region of Volgograd derailed and a diesel fuel storage tank caught fire on Tuesday, according to Russian officials.
🇮🇱 Israel. An intensifying conflict in southern Gaza has trapped a team of international doctors, including Americans, in a hospital near Rafah, endangering the aid workers and scores of their critically wounded Palestinian patients, medical personnel told The Washington Post.
🇬🇧 United Kingdom. Rishi Sunak begged voters to support his plan, claiming he was the only man who could lead Britain through the “most dangerous period” for the world since the Cold War.
