Exploring the Escalating Situation in the South China Sea

In this episode, the issue of the West Philippine Sea was discussed in relation to the China-US relationship. According to China's perspective, the actions of the Philippines are seen as a challenge to China's position in this matter, particularly in their competition with the US.

However, the Philippines aims to change this perception and emphasize that it is not about the China-US relationship, but rather about the Philippines-China relationship.

The Philippines wants to address the issue based on the UN Convention on the Law of the Seas and refute the false notion that it is an enclosed sea. The objective is to demonstrate that the issue in the West Philippine Sea is directly related to the Philippines and China.

Prof. Herman Kraft said it was mentioned that Filipino fishermen are facing difficulties entering Scarborough Shoal, and China is obstructing the resupply missions of the Philippines. This becomes problematic as the fishermen are unable to sustain their livelihood within Scarborough Shoal due to China's interference. Additionally, the resupply missions sent by the Philippines to the soldiers stationed at Sierra Madre in Ayunin Shoal are also being manipulated by the Chinese Coast Guard. This is unjust and contrary to the decisions made. This tension highlights the Philippines' assertion of its rights in the West Philippine Sea.
